Pax Lodge is based in Hampstead, North London, near Parliament Hill, the highest area of the capital city of the United Kingdom.  The opening of Pax Lodge in 1990 fulfilled the dream of having the World Bureau (WAGGGS World Headquarters) and a World Centre placed side by side.  In addition to providing a base where Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world can meet and exchange ideas, it offers visitors the opportunity to explore a major European city.  Pax Lodge is an ideal place to stay when visiting London.

The name Pax Lodge was chosen for symbolic and historic reasons.  The two family homes of Lord and Lady Baden-Powell were called Pax Hill (Bentley, New Hampshire) and Paxtu (Kenya).  Pax also means peace (in Latin), one of the aims of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.  Lodge was chosen to retain a link with the original home on the site, Rosslyn Lodge, home of the Earl of Rosslyn. Pax Lodge is an "international gathering place for WAGGGS members, providing opportunities for accommodation, education, and friendship."  Programs and seminars focusing on women's issues, current events, or historical and cultural aspects of London are offered throughout the year.  Other sessions and workshops are offered for special groups.

Pax Lodge recently received scholarships from the World Foundation for travel grants. In April 2009, Pax Lodge held a joint project with the Europe Region, which was a WAGGGS Leadership Development Program Event and was attended by 34 participants from all five of WAGGGS' regions. Funds were also granted to replace carpets in the lodge, as it is used by thousands of members each year.
